HubSpot Certifications in 2026: What They Are and Which Ones to Get

Updated October 2026: cert list, validity periods and availability checked against HubSpot Academy's public pages.

Quick gut check: if your LinkedIn still shows a HubSpot badge you earned back when "inbound" was the hot new buzzword, there's a decent chance it's expired.

HubSpot Academy is still one of the best free deals in marketing. It's free to sign up and free to get certified, and the courses are taught by people who actually run the software. But the catalog looks nothing like it did when we first wrote this post in 2018. There are now dozens of certifications covering marketing, sales, customer service, HubSpot's own software, and partner and developer tracks. They don't all last the same amount of time, either. Most strategy certifications are good for two years, and the HubSpot software certifications run for one.

So you don't need all of them. You need the two or three that match the job you're actually doing. Below is the 2026 rundown: what HubSpot certifications are, what they cost (spoiler: nothing), how long they stay valid, and which ones each person on your team should get first.

Are HubSpot certifications free?

Yes. HubSpot Academy calls them completely free and online, and the Academy is publicly available to everyone. As of October 2026 they remain free. HubSpot's terms say it may elect to charge a fee for certifications at any time, so if you're reading this later, double-check Academy.

How long do HubSpot certifications last?

Most strategy certifications are valid for two years. HubSpot software and product certifications last one year, and a few others (like SEO) are also listed at one year. Recertifying resets the clock from the recertification date. Point yourself at the "Valid until" date on your own certificate rather than guessing from memory.

How do you get certified?

Complete the lessons, pass the timed exam, and finish any required practical exercises. Some practical exercises are graded manually and can take 5–7 business days. If you fail the exam, you can retake it 12 hours later. You can download and print your certificate, embed the badge on your site, or add it to LinkedIn.

Which HubSpot certifications should you get? (2026)

You probably don't need every badge HubSpot offers. Stick with what matches your role. HubSpot Academy now offers dozens of certifications — strategy certs like Inbound, Inbound Marketing, Content Marketing, Email Marketing, SEO, Social Media Marketing, Digital Marketing, Digital Advertising, Inbound Sales, Sales Management, and Revenue Operations; software certifications for Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, Service Hub, and Content Hub; plus partner and developer tracks.

Here's a practical starting map (role picks are our editorial take; validity figures come from HubSpot's public KB):

Role breakdown: the most useful certs

Inbound (foundations)
HubSpot lists an Inbound certification as the foundations course — good for everyone on the team. Valid for two years.

Inbound Marketing Certification
Covers the fundamentals of inbound marketing, content marketing, SEO, social media promotion, conversational marketing, email marketing, and customer marketing. HubSpot also lists a deeper Inbound Marketing track separately from the foundations Inbound cert. Both are valid for two years.
Who is it for? Marketers first. Still a strong shared baseline for the rest of the team and for clients who are new to inbound.

Email Marketing Certification
An in-depth look at nurturing leads through email: lifecycle marketing, segmentation, email design, deliverability, analytics, and optimization. Valid for two years.
Who is it for? Marketing consultants most of all; sales benefits from understanding how email leads arrive and how to close them.

Content Marketing Certification
A foundation for reproducible content creation and promotion processes — useful when you need consistent, quality content. Valid for two years.
Who is it for? Content creators and the people who manage them. Even if your creators are pros, this helps you evaluate process and plan the next batch of work. For more on how we approach content at Beefy, see content marketing.

Inbound Sales Certification
Sales strategy behind inbound: identifying potential customers by funnel stage, outreach strategies, and sales presentations built for those stages. Valid for two years.
Who is it for? Your sales team.

Also worth knowing (short list)
- SEO — listed at one year (HubSpot also lists SEO II).
- Social Media Marketing (I and II) — two years.
- Digital Marketing and Digital Advertising — two years each.
- Sales Management — two years.
- Software certs (Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, Service Hub, Content Hub) — one year each; some include practical exercises inside a HubSpot account.
- Partner certifications (for example Agency Partner and Solutions Partner) are only for HubSpot partners. Every Academy course and certification is free to take; partner tracks are the restricted ones.
