Podcasts vs Blogs: Who’s the Winner?

Podcast vs Blogs

We’ve got an intense battle for you here today, folks! In the red corner, we have podcasts, the new king of content creation; in the blue corner, we have blog posts, the old-school method that still gets the job done. Who will win? Today we’re going over the perks of both podcasting and blog-writing, and you get to decide which one you think will take home the gold.

The Perks of Podcasts

Podcasting is one of our new favorite content creation methods here at Beefy, and our two podcasts certainly show our passion for it. With audio content unique to us, podcasting amplifies our brand’s unique voice; no matter the host, podcasting allows us to connect with our listeners on a personal level, as when the headphones are in, it’s just the listener and the host in a closed space together. People often enjoy that intimacy, especially if the host themself is fun to listen to, and will often tell their friends about that super cool podcast they listened to during their morning commute. Podcasting brings that heightened engagement from a listener, as instead of merely reading words on a website, they’re listening to someone they trust tell them the same information– it’s less like research and more like a conversation.

Everyone can tell a story if they’re passionate about the content! Podcasts are accessible to anyone who can listen, whether you’re telling the tale or listening to it. They’re easy to multitask with; lots of people listen to podcasts while driving, working out, on their morning commute, cooking, and more. Plus, if you have consumers who can’t listen to your content, you can repurpose it into a blog post for easy reading. It’s a win-win situation for the long-form king of content creation.

The Perks of Blogs

On the other side of the ring we have blog posts. They’re the most affordable content creation out there with the biggest rewards: there’s no need for special equipment to record anything, like podcasts need, and you aren’t required to dress up to write them. Blogs also take much less time to edit than podcasts do. All the written content boosts your SEO with keywords to make your blog pop, which also works to help your blog become more discoverable through search engines and social media– and if you really think about it, podcasts need written scripts anyway.

Blog posts are easier to skim for important information, instead of skipping through a podcast episode to find the juicy bits. While you can’t multitask while reading a blog post (or, at least, we wouldn’t recommend it), you can look over the post for the key notes you need and save it for later. Plus, some age groups prefer written content over audio/visual content, so if you know your target age group, you can cater to their needs.

So, which do you prefer?

The up-and-coming podcast with intimate connection and multitasking prowess, or the ol’ reliable blog post with easy reading and affordability? Cast your bets now, and know that we at Beefy can help you with both if you just can’t decide on one.
